The Far Infrared Sauna uses Infrared energy to penetrate the body's tissue. Tests have shown that the energy output is tuned so closely to the body's own radiant energy that our bodies absorb as much as 93% of the far infrared waves that reach our skin. By comparison, conventional saunas must rely only on indirect means of heat: first, on convection (air currents) and then, conduction (direct contact of hot air with the skin) to produce its heating effect. A Far Infrared sauna is best used at temperatures between 100 to 125F versus 180 to 220F for traditional hot-air saunas. BWC's sauna is a 1-4 person sauna. The spacious interior is soothing and ergonomic for your utmost comfort and detoxification needs.

What do Far Infrared Rays (FIR) do for us?

FIR waves penetrate deep into our body for a deep heating action which allows for the body to activate the sweat glands. The sweat glands offer one of only a few mechanisms that the body has to eliminate toxins and since the skin is the largest organ in the human body it is a very good means for elimination.

FIR waves have the potential to penetrate 2 inches or more into the body allowing for deep heat and raising your core body temperature from deep inside. This helps improve many functions of the body.

Science and Far Infrared Rays

Sunlight is a combination of visible light and invisible light. The seven colors of the rainbow are visible lights, and infrared rays and ultraviolet rays are invisible lights. Infrared rays are one of the sun's longest rays. In a rainbow, far infrared would be above red and invisible to the human eye.

When FIR waves are applied to water molecules (comprising 70% of our body) these molecules begin to vibrate. This vibration reduces the ion bonds and the eventual breakdown of the water molecules causes encapsulated gases and other toxic materials to be released.

Far infrared (FIR) rays are an invisible spectrum of sunlight discovered by a scientist named Sir William Herschel in 1800. His research led to the discovery that there were not only the known visible rays - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet plus the invisible rays, Gamma and Ultraviolet but also a previously unknown ray later named Infrared.

FIR rays are present in the spectrum between visible light and microwaves. This invisible band of light is felt as heat. Approximately 80% of solar energy is made up of FIR and 60% is between the range of 10-20 microns. The human body generates FIR between 8-14 microns. When our bodies are heated by FIR rays the activity level of our atoms are increased and heat can be generated.

Albert Szent-Gyorgi, Nobel Prize Winner, hypothesized that all energy from the sun has profound effects on our bodies. His research showed that light can literally alter the body’s basic biological functions and some of these light rays, notably far infrared rays, can improve health and homeostasis.

Why Far Infrared technology for a sauna?

Infrared Saunas use Infrared energy to penetrate the body's tissue.

A Far Infrared sauna is best used at temperatures between 100' to 125'F versus 180' to 220'F for traditional hot-air saunas.

Is Far Infrared Heat Safe?

Yes! Far Infrared heat is all around us. It is the healing, revitalizing light from the sun and an infrared sauna produces the same benefits as sunshine, without harmful solar radiation, in a comfortable lounging environment.

Remember, it is not the air temperature that is doing the healing; it's the combination carbon and ceramic heaters emitting the infrared that is absorbed by your body. This will raise your core body temperature causing you to sweat. And sweat you will--so please remember to drink a lot of water!
